Douce-Hydro/Jarret Structures' devices
use special fluids made of viscous silicon.
Our technology which has proven to be industrially successful over the
past 50 years, uses the fluids characteristics to obtain device function.

F = C.V
α
he force-velocity relationship of the non-linear dampers is given by F = C.V
α
(C is the damping constant;
V is the seismic relative velocity, and
α
is the damping exponent). This relationship is graphically illustrated
below.
The graph above shows that, as a generalized behavior, the lower the alpha value (
α
), and the higher the
velocity (V), the resulting force (F) will stabilize and will not increase any further, limiting structural stresses
and displacements.
Thanks to the use of this silicon fluid technology, Douce-Hydro/Jarret Structures’ is able to design for very low
alpha values between 0.07 ≥
α
≥ 0.8, with alpha values in a range of 0.1 ≥
α
≥ 0.2 being the most common.
Douce-Hydro/Jarret Structures’ approach allows for significantly greater damping results and efficiency.
